Prep-U Release Notes

Prep-U 2.0
January 2010 release

A new student site will offer users a more intuitive interface, a new mastery level system, and a new dashboard that gives students at-a-glance summaries of how they are doing.

1. New Features for Students

  • A new, more intuitive user interface with simple tab navigation.
  • (BETA) Prep-U's new mastery level system gives students a clear and simple tool to measure progress relative to their classmates and to other students across the nation. We received feedback that the former Mastery Index system was confusing and students equated the Mastery Index with a course grade. The eight new mastery levels were created based on data from tens of thousands of students nationwide. Students' advancement through the levels reflects their grasp of key topics in the Prep-U course. For more information on the mastery levels, please visit the Student FAQ page, or the download the Student Guide. The mastery level feature will be launched in its Beta version for the 2010 spring semester. We invite feedback from our users via the "Tell us what you think" link on the student site.
  • The new "How Am I Doing?" dashboard gives students:
    • Tools to track their overall performance (across the entire course and by topic or chapter)
    • Visual summaries of how they compare to their classmates
    • Targeted information on strengths and weaknesses
    • At-a-glance assignment stats

2. New Features for Instructors

  • (BETA) Prep-U's new mastery level system will give you a clearer window into your students overall progress and their progress relative to each other and to students across the nation. OneClick Assessment data will reflect the new mastery level system.
  • New ability to import previously created assignments into new courses or sections. Instructors who previously created assignments in Prep-U can now apply those same assignments into future sections or terms.
  • Ability for instructors to take assignments in student mode and then modify assignments after they’ve completed the quiz. This allows instructors to experience a Prep-U assignment as their students would and then make appropriate edits. Note that an assignment cannot be edited after any actual student has completed it.
